Along the dusty highway - which countries have you taught in?

Where have you taught English?

I'm teaching in Shanghai, China. It's my first teaching contract. I really want to jump over to Tokyo.

Come on over, it's great!

I've only taught in Japan. I've been here 7 years and love it.

I've only taught English in Korea. I'm almost finished with my 6th year.

Same here but I will like to teach in Europe eventually. After a few years my wife and I will want to raise a family and hopefully where ever we go will pay well! 😉

I'm at my second school in Korea. I love it here, but I hope it won't be my last country to teach in. I'd like to go to South America and Europe and the Middle East and Southern Africa. Absolutely anywhere really!

Will you stay in Korea much longer?

I just came back here after a break in Australia and I'm working really hard at trying to learn the language as I want to get absolutely as much from this year (or two) as possible. I'm definitely here for the next 6 months, but as my school is so good and I'm happy teaching it might be longer.
I can never say for certain!

i am jessica from philippines. i've been teaching english for 10 years now and learning every year too . i am teaching in indonesia now. i have primary 4 english. i find it so challenging since english is very foreign to them. i love every minute i have with the kids at school.

its always nice and good to learn new things. am trying to learn to speak bahasa (indonesian language) too. am hard on it but am trying very much. we have to be open to challenges ...

France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Japan, Wales and England! My favourites? Japan and Wales.

I taught in Guadeloupe, England, Thailand, France, and Spain.
I've been to 45 countries so I've probably taught elsewhere too but can't remember - you know what it's like when your life is like a patchwork quilt.

It was pretty hard teaching in London, at Sels College, Covent Garden. The pay was pretty low when you considered that you had to pay London rents, travel to work, go out in London for social life, and spend time preparing the lessons.

That was the nail in the coffin of my TEFL career for a while - because you might as well have been working at Mc Donalds for all you got paid - although you didn't smell of chips when you got home.

Teaching in Thailand was really fun - the students were so enthusiastic to learn English.

Those of your posting who are keen to come to Europe - watch out! The pay can be pretty bad and the cost of living is high here. Private lessons to supplement your income are the answer.
