Zero or First conditional?

Posted by Alex80 · December 3, 2022 · 1 replies

Hi everyone! I was wondering if you could help me figure out the following if conditionals. Are they zero or first conditionals?

1.I can't get to sleep if I drink a lot of coffee. ( Can I replace 'can't' by 'won' t'? )

2.You(need to/ 'll need to) improve your English if you want to study in Britain.

3.My parents ( get/ will get) worried if I come home late.
If the three conditionals are zero, can I use " will" to make them first conditionals.?
Thanks in advance

Hi Alex,

Basically, yes, they are zero conditionals and they change to first conditionals if you add will/won't.

Adding will shifts the perspective from something that is generally true (zero conditional) to something that is a concrete plan (first conditional).

I have some notes on these topics here:
