My first class!

Posted by clubdeingles · July 5, 2011 · 2 replies

I have just finished my TEFL course. I have my first student who is 9 yrs old and he will be attending his first class in the next couple of days. I think my nerves are getting the best of me, and feel a bit overwhelmed even though I know I'm capable of giving a good class, I don't know WHERE to start. I think I may be reading too much into it, and complicating my thoughts a little, but I suddenly feel like all that I have learned is gone... MENTAL BLOCK! Any suggestions for a good place to start or maybe a good book to follow A-Z? 🤦

Thanks...

What you are feeling is totally normal. Your mental block comes from wanting to perform well so in that sense it is a good thing. Personally, I would not recommend following any manual from A-Z. There are millions of sites online to choose from so regularly go online to find little treasures and bookmark them.

I simply suggest to prepare your first 2 lessons, then prepare as you go along. You'll do great and good luck.

There are a lot of great flash cards, printable books for the alphabet, and a lot more there. You could find loads to make an interesting 1on1 class.
