My Summer Vacation - 2006

Posted by Eric · September 3, 2006 · 11 replies

So what did everyone get up to this summer? Where'd ya go? What'd ya see? Post a pic or two.

I'll go first. I spent my honeymoon in Quebec City. If you've never been, it's a must. Beautiful old buildings from the 17th century.

Congrats! I got married too!! Spent the honeymoon in Austria and Switzerland. It was great but the weather was too hot!

A statue of Mozart is on the left (Vienna) and a picture looking down on Lucerne (Switzerland) is on the right.

congrats to you, too! your pics are great!

Congratulations to the both of you.
I spent the "summer" in Australia, so it was technically "winter" putting together my residency application and then looking for and finding a new job back in Korea.

Congrats on the weddings and good to hear the honeymoons went well.

I spent the summer playing down by the river with my kids. It was a lot of fun but now we have an array of wildlife to take care of, fish, beetles, crabs, crayfish and dragonflies.

Congratulations on the new weds and all the best for their future life.
in summer, my husband and I spent our holiday building our house in the countryside, near the ocean. we've been working on it for 6 years now and still enjoy doing it. maybe because it's not our job at all!! we also celebrated my 50th with friends , some of them I hadn't seen for 10 years so it was great!
We enjoyed simple things, being together , laughing a lot, walking along the coast, swimming in the sea. Nature is so beautiful!!
I wish I could send you a picture but I'm so awkward as regards technical things to the internet, I'm sorry!! My daughter's away, and my husband too busy !!

All the best for this new academic year!!
Happy teaching!

I carve pumpkins for halloween and this year I carved a couple water melons for a little 4th of July picnic.

I worked through the summer. I'll be having an Australian summer (December). I can't wait!

You're an artist MArk, I wish I could do the same as you did your July 4th barbecue to impress my friends!
the trouble is I've got filling the concrete mixer down to a fine art today !! ( Hope you use this idiom in American! ) And I'm a bit clumsy at artistic work now!
Well for those who haven't taken any vacation yet,
Have good holidays!!! ( Simplyes and others..)

Is this wedding thing contagious? I'll get some vaccinations sorted out for my girlfriend and I!!
Seriously, well done chaps. Hope the honeymoons last a lifetime.

My summer was spent hacking my way through the jungle of Italian bureaucracy. Anyone who's been here and needed a permit to stay will have had a taste of it. Now imagine what it's like starting a school, buying a house, having a daughter - all within 12 months. It's more than once that I've felt like throwing myself into a vat of boiling ragu sauce. Anyway, at least it kept me off the beach and out of the bars I suppose . . .🎻

😕 I thought that was what summer was about...

Me too. I was just trying to convince myself that it I was right and the 10,000 smiling, bronzed, Italians had it all wrong.
