Posted by liascity · May 5, 2008 · 7 replies

Hi everyone. I got a big problem with my high school chinese students. As summer approaches they get bored.. I meet them twice a week.. so I still have 20 meetings before vacation.. Please help me find games or lessons that suits this hot weather.

Thanks very much for your help....

Have you tried any games? What have you done that has been successful?

There are games here: www.mes-english.com/games.php
and on this site here: www.eslhq.com/forums/esl-forums/esl-games-activities/

Here's a games and activities forum for young learners

That might give you some more ideas.

hello!!!
whatever is your name thank u so much for the site. I know this will help me a lot..... not only me but to all.
ur so great...
I must also say thanks to myself cuz i found this site 😂😂😛

May your tribe increase!

give them freer activities to do for example, design a film poster for a film they've made up, make a tourist poster for their city, make a short tourist ad and film it. Anything a little different and creative. Give them a chance to incorporate everything they've learnt during the course. If they can do something which involves showing off to the rest of the class they are usually very happy to get involved. (It's quite relaxing for the teacher too!!)

It's Mark. And, no problem. I hope the site and games work out well for you.

Do you have access to a computer room? I only teach elementary school, but I find that my older students (11 and 12) are always really excited when we do computer related activities. As a bonus, the computer room has air conditioning, which really helps with those mid July lessons.

I'd like to work with the computer room, also I'm thinking of making them work with the Internet. We are dealing with writing biographies, so I'm thinking about making them use the Internet to find some information about important people for the world, I mean... they all related to culture (e.g. gandhi, mother teresa, john kennedy, etc.) if you have any other idea to share, I'm all 'eyes' 😉
