I know the most common sentence would be "He advised her to get some qualifications before leaving school", but is the following sentence grammatically correct? "He advised her that she should make sure she got some qualifications before leaving school"Thanks

Yes, it's fine. Advise can be followed by direct object + infinitive, or by direct object plus "that" clause. Both are possible to give advice, (eg He advised her to stop smoking / He advised her that she should stop smoking) but the "that" construction is also used exclusively when advise has the meaning of "inform" - eg We advised her that there was nothing to be done. This is very common in reports of legal cases.
