Gotchas

Hello

I would like to know if you can help me figure this term out which appears in an article that deals with how to negotiate a severance package when you are laid off.

Here's the article: How to Negotiate a Severance Package - washingtonpost.com

It's the paragraph that says 'Look for gotchas'.

Any help is appreciated.

"gotcha" means "got you"

When you say "I got you." It can mean you can't escape or you've been tricked.

There are several stipulations in that reading that 'trap' the employee and restrict what they can and can't do in that position.

Does that make sense?

yes, it does. Thank you very much for your help. 🙂
