These public schools come with a government contract & it is therefore a much more secure position than any academy / hagwon position.

There would only be 22 classes per week, 88 per month. An elementary class is 40 minutes & a middle & high school class will last for 50 minutes.

Salary would be dependent purely on your resume. The office of education has a pay scale that runs from 1.9m to 2.5m won. A simplified version can be seen here : Korean Horizons - Teach English in South Korea

I n addition, you will get:
• 300,000 won one-time settlement allowance
• 100,000 won per month provincial allowance
• 100,000 won per month if you teach in a rural location
• 100,000 to 150,000 won if you teach in 2 or 3 public schools (with a total of 22 classes per week between them)
• round-trip flights
• rent-free single or shared apartment
• 14 to 35 days paid vacation + national holidays
• medical contributions
• pension contributions
• severance payment
• 15 sick paid leave allowance
• 7 day special leave allowance
• 2 weeks additional paid vacation if you resign your contract after the first year

It is possible to earn as much as 2.85m won per month. It is tax free.

The successful candidate:
1. will be from the USA, the UK, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia or South Africa
2. Will hold a Bachelor diploma
3. Will have a clean criminal background report
