What's Your Number? This is a fast-paced game for listening and number review.
Materials: Picture or word cards (any will do, especially if you are planning to review).
Best for: Young children up to 12 or 13.
Preparation: Divide your class into teams (even numbers are best). Line them up opposite each other. Distribute cards on desks or floor. Next, assign numbers to each student. Both teams will have the same numbers so they must compete against opposite players (letters can work just as well).
Procedure: Call a number, then a card. The two students with the same number called must race to collect the card. Do a round or two in order, then start calling random numbers to keep them on their toes.
The kids get really excited every time I use this game.
Caution: When you pair opposite players, avoid boy against girl, and try to keep the kids' sizes the same! Nobody wants a little one getting crushed by a gorilla! |
