Default Correctness of Sentence

Hi all, I want to ask you if the sentence I am going to write is correct or incorrect.

He should have handed over his test before all the others'.

The sentence, if is unclear, means that he should have already given in his test when the other people's test were given.

This morning I was told that the sentence I have just posted here is absolutely incorrect, is it? And, if yes, why?
