Due to the recent events in parts of Japan, the country is pulling together to help recover as quickly as possible. Unaffected areas of the country are seeking English language teachers to work in the public school system and reaffirm Japan’s strong work ethic and focused demeanor.

Teach Away is currently accepting applications for Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) positions throughout unaffected areas of the country, including 6 positions in Tokyo. Start Dates: Late August/Early September 2011 (June 2011 for Tokyo positions)
Contract Duration: 7 months - 1 year
Location: Rural Japan and Tokyo
Student Level: Elementary & Junior High
Working Hours: 08:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday
Monthly Salary: 230,000 – 250,000 JPY (~$2,800 - $3,000)
Visa: Sponsored by the school
Number of Vacancies: 50
Housing: $500-$700/month
Vacation: 7-8 weeks, including national holidays
Health Insurance 2.5-3% deduction from monthly paycheque
Additional Benefits: Free Japanese lessons; training in Tokyo; free accommodations during training

***Applicants flexible with placement will receive 100,000 yen signing bonus, and up to 250,000 yen accommodation assistance.

REQUIREMENTS

• University Undergraduate Degree (in any discipline)
• Native English Speaker
• Adaptability to be placed anywhere in scenic Japan (*1 year of previous teaching experience in Japan required for Tokyo placements)
• Able to attend in-person interview in Toronto, Vancouver, London, Edinburgh, or Dublin.
