While I agree that many words break the rules of phonics, there are many words that keep the rules of phonics. A student who is not equipped with phonics will be unable to sound out even the words...

I look at it differently. When my students play board games, I divide the class into groups of 4. Each group of 4 plays independently. This method works very well for adults.

I use a computer heavily. I try to update my notes in the computer within 24 hours of the class meeting.
My computer is highly organized with folders, subfolders, sub-subfolders, etc.
