Can anyone recommend a good text book to use with a 12 year old Chinese boy. It is so hard to find books suitable for one-to-one use. I'll be adding plenty of games and other activities to the lesson...

In England we call it a hall - this doesn't have to be a room. The hall is the place between rooms and a corridor is more for buildings other than houses, like you say above - though not necessarily...

Just thought - it would be nice to use a song. All I can think of is 'Homeward bound' by Simon and Garfunkel and 'Dirty old town' by......The Pogues???? Can't quite remember. Any other 'hometown'...

Ideas for 'my home town'

Anyone have any ideas for a few lessons on 'my home town'. The obvious one is looking at a map and giving directions. The lessons are Speaking/Listening with mainly intermediate level 9-12 year olds....

I think it's important to vary the way you group the children. It largely depends on the activity. I don't think it would be fair to the higher level students to always pair them with lower level...

Oh no, Mr English - you've depressed me now! I have students from about 12 nationalities in each class of 20+. They are not grouped by ability at all and there is nothing I can do about it - Chinese...

Fishead Soup - thanks for the idea. I have decided, instead of photocopying the photos, simply to blutac them on to a piece of A4 and then slide them into a clear plastic wallet. - Saves photocopying...
