I want to teach in Korea but I have to do a FBI background check. I do have a juvenile record that was sealed, would it still show up on the FBI check? Will it disqualified me from teaching abroad? I would hate to lose my chances of teaching in Korea for something I did as a minor

My wife got detained and questioned at immigration (heading into the States) about some lipstick she nicked when she was 16. So, to say a juvenile record is gone, sealed, and closed would be a mistake.

I'm actually still waiting for my FBI background check to come back in a couple of months. Hopefully everything goes well. Thanks for the info!

I had to get an FBI Background check last winter. Even though (at the time) their website said to allow 8 to 10 weeks, the FBI received my request on 11/18/2009 and I received the results on 02/08/2010. So it took almost exactly 12 weeks. I see they've updated their website with "processing times may take up to 12 weeks" now...
