Cool Where do you teach?

I'm just curious where everyone comes from and where they've been.

2 mins survey!

- What country are you from?
- What country are you teaching in?
- How long have you taught there?
- What do you teach (subject teacher, language teacher etc...)?
- Top 2 or 3 things you love about your new home.
- Top 2 or 3 things you miss from you home country.

I'm from Canada, currently living in Thailand.
I'm a computer science teacher at a collage in Bangkok.
I've been here for over 6 years.
I love Thai food, Thai people, and the weather (I know its hot here but hey I'm from super cold Canada! ).
I really miss desserts. Thai food is great but they don't make very good desserts in my opinion. I also miss... ummm.. I can't really think of anything else... I will get back to you on that one.

Can't wait for some interesting replies!

I'm American and have been living and teaching in Japan for 8 years now. I run my own English conversation school, work at a nursing college and have one corporate contract.

Everything here is great. I don't miss much, but I guess I miss the restaurant selection. You can get Japanese, Korean, Chinese or Italian, but that's about it. I'd love to have an Indian or Mexican restaurant. Maybe a diner and sandwich shop as well ...

Hi!

I'm Scottish by birth and I live here in Malaysia. I've been here for more than 10 years.

I teach Business English, Basic IT, Comm Skills ... you name it

What I like about Malaysia is the food and the people. I don't miss home, much; I'm a wherever-I-lay-my-hat kinda guy

Hi!

My answers are much less exciting.

I live in the USA.
I teach in the USA.
I've only been teaching for about 3 months.
I teach English and basic Lao.

I've traveled extensively but I am hoping to relocate again in the coming year. That's why I am here, to absorb good advice from all you brilliant teachers.

I'm an American living in Tokyo, Japan. I've been in the country for 10.5 years now, and have good days and bad days with the job. I mostly design curriculum and training programs for a conversation school with branches across the country, but also teach at uni from time to time and business classes. Of course, there are private students, too. A lot of the stuff on the side spurs ideas for my website, as well as gives me the chance to test my website lesson plans. (I'm about to release materials for lower-intermediate students, so things have been busy!)

Oh, you world travelers! How exciting!

I am from California and I am a volunteer teacher here in California.
I've been teaching for 3 years.
I teach Beginning English (the lowest level, sometimes called Pre-Beginning!) to adult immigrants, mostly Spanish speaking, sometimes there are a few Vietnamese in the class.
I love my job because I hope I'm helping these immigrants feel more comfortable in their new country, and that they will have an easier time here once they know a little English.
I learn a lot from my students, more than they learn from me probably.

Martha
