Default Use of mothertongue....

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to write this kind of post here but.... I willl Does any of you know any books or articles on using a mothertongue when teaching second/foreign language? I'd really appreciate if you can list the titles...

Also you can write your own ideas.

There are plenty of articles out there in teaching journals about L1 support for language learners and how helpful that can be.

I wrote an article review examining 4 articles on reading with hints of L1 support. I can send you that if you'd wish.

As for articles try http://scholar.google.com/ and search. If you can't access the paper because it's subscription based try contacting the author directly. They'll usually send you a copy.

Mark,

Is that where you get most of your articles? Or is there any other websites? I wouldn't mind getting the TESOL Quarterly as most of the papers that I read in my course are copied from some issue or another of it. It's always difficult to find articles but I haven't really started yet as I am still on my second module and will start my paper (just a small one) in January so I wouldn't research much for a while.

No, I don't use Google Scholar anymore.

I have a subscription through my University to various journals. It's much easier to go through them. Through the university I can get much more recent articles and full journals.

You should check with your university or visit the on-line library. I'm sure you have something similar.

Google scholar with work but you'll end up getting sent to journal registration places if you are looking for more recent articles. That's why I suggest just contacting the author directly. They're usually happy that someone has taken an interest in their reseach.
