Default Struggling to make this work

I have been in China for a week now.

Thiis is my first teaching position so I am very inexperienced.

The school have sent me back to the agency for a day's schooling as they think I need some training.

I am so worried about being fired now.

As a naturally shy person I find it naturally quite difficult however it is not impossible and I feel that day on day I have been getting better and more confident.

The main problem I am having is with the terrible flashcards I have been given the students know them all already and as a consequence seem to switch off and it is difficult to hold their attention and keep them disciplined.

Right now I am feeling that this may not be for me but I genuinely do enjoy the job and the school I work in is nice.

hang in there. It may take some time to get used to it all and find out what works best for you and the students. Teaching abroad is very different from teaching in your home culture. See what you get from the training session. It might really make a big difference.

All I can really do is offer sympathies. Teaching is always a challenge. Try your best to stick it out and keep your ears and eyes open. Pay close attention for what your students find interesting and try to present in a manner that plays off those interests. Sometimes the best and most useful classes are ones that fall off the planned subject pretty quickly. Best of luck to you and I hope your continued training goes well.
