Default SOS - need reading material for consciousness -raising approach grammar lesson

Hi all!
Here I am in rainy Edinburgh- Scotland, doing a Masters in Tesol. In 2 days I have a micro-teaching lesson, where I have to present my ss with a reading ( chosen by me ) in which I have chosen a grammar point. The hard part here, is that I have to attempt to use the discovery approach or as R Ellis would term it, the consciousness -raising approach.
The problem is, I have looked for reading material everywhere and can't find a decent text! It musn't be overly long or with an overly complex grammar feature. I merely have to show that I've more or less understood the approach.
I would be grateful for any suggestions on short texts you may have used.

There are a couple stories here. Maybe you can use them as is or adapt them.
