Seeking quality textbooks
 

Hi there, I just started working at a brand new school, and have very little experience in building curriculum. Does anyone have ideas or advice on developing a curriculum for third and Fourth grade beginner and intermeadiate classes. Also, anyone have any advice on a good textbook to use for teaching? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks much.

The chatterbox and go go loves English series are complete rubbish, stay clear!

Let's Go! is OK.

But most series are still lacking. It's just hard to be complete.

I don't think it's so much what you use as it is how you use it.

Yea, I agree.

The Let's Go series is OK. I find that they can be a bit slow sometimes... You just have to add your own content to the numerous review lessons.

BTW, what are the flashcards like? My school doesn't have 'em and it drives me crazy every time the book says "use teacher cards 3xx-4xx"! Oh well, I've been told (yea, teachers were told before i got here) that we are getting books to replace them...

the flashcards are really nice. expensive, but worth it. i mostly ever use Let's Go.

I used English Time with my beginner kids. It was fairly well structured with each unit having some phonics, grammar and conversation practice and loose enough for me to add to it as and how I saw fit.
