Default How do you correct a colleague who is wrong?

Sounds funny but it is one of those things that has stuck with me all these years.
A colleague is going off completely - teaching the wrong thing to the same students you teach. You want to correct him. Right, you can't do it in the classroom or in front of students. But back in the office it is still not easy to bring up this kind of discussion without hurting or sounding pompous.
I accept corrections from colleagues without feeling uncomfortable but many colleagues just don't take it kindly.

I am thinking may be my approach (that is - talking to the colleague in the office) is the wrong one.
Help please if you know some better ways to correct a colleague.
Thanks.
