Outdoor lesson ideas? Hello all,
I'm a new ESL teacher so I'm still learning the ropes, and I wondered if I could ask you guys for some suggestions? I'm currently teaching in an Islamic university situated in a gorgeous old manor house in the countryside. Yesterday I decided to take advantage of the weather and the lovely university grounds and, for the last hour of the day, my students and I went for a walk around outside. I would point to certain objects, elicit the names of the objects, and then teach the students different metaphors and idioms related to them (the acorn never falls far from the tree, turning over a new leaf etc.).
I'd like to keep doing this as long as the weather stays nice, so does anybody have any other suggestions for outdoor lessons? Short of just moving my whiteboard into the garden and having a regular lesson in the sun |
