I like to play bingo to practise spellings. The children love it and don't even realise it's spelling practise. They write down three of the words we are learning and mark them off as I turn over flashcards with the words on. Initially they can copy the words from the list, but then I get them to try to recall them from memory. I teach small groups so can focus quite tightly on this.

You can also get them to write words in the air for each other to guess, create the words out of plasticine, make word searches for each other, write nonsense sentences, etc.
