Intensive English Program

Has anyone ever taught an intensive English program? I will be teaching a course, but without a book. The adults are pre-intermediate. Thank you very much in advance.

I don't know if this is too late for you, but intensive courses can be great fun, if you don't have a set curriculum. I would spend time at the beginning getting to know their interests and needs and tailor your classes to these. I find that teaching to a theme works well (you can change themes each week or however often suits you) and do anything that fits in with that theme, including songs, movies, games as well as grammar, reading and writing.

Thank you for the reply! Actually I was given a curriculum, but I've been using a lot of material myself.

Just following up on this. Did they make the curriculum that you're following? How is the course going? Do you have any suggestions for someone in the same position?

I'd like to know too. :) I teach theme-based adult classes every week and it's always good to hear what others are doing, since I'll continue having these same students year after year...

Sorry for the late reply! I was actually given a book. However, I don't use it too much. Mostly for the grammar, I try to add in my own activities to practice conversational skills. It isn't as intensive as I would like it to be. The class only meets twice a week for an hour and 15 minutes. Thank you for your replies!
