ESL PROSPECTS IN OTNARIO

Hi I hold a Masters in English and B.ED from India. I am appearing for an assessment interview at Humber College Toronto. Does anyone know what to expect?

Also, what are the job prospects in Greater Toronto Area if I am selected in this course and finish the same.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hey,

I am not too sure on the Humber exam, but I can tell you about the jobs in Toronto.

I run an ESL school, and I see lots of teachers looking for jobs. Granted, there are many schools, but also lots of competition.

What program are you taking at Humber, and how long doe sit take?

Thanks Dave,

Greatly appreciate your reply.

Its TESL course in Humber. Could you please educate me on hours in ESL as I am told that there are lot of evening and weekend hours. I have a 7 yrs old to take care of. Being a mother I have to be her support system in these hours.

I am right now on cross road of ESL or ECE careers and confused too...

Best Regards

Mini

Well, if you are considering your child, ECE would be a great fit. You can work school hours, which makes it easy to take care of your family.

Generally speaking, ESL does not have too many night shifts or weekends. The majority of the schools here in Toronto run programs from 9-3.

I certainly don't work any nights or weekends. 9-5 for me!

When does your program start at Humber? September?
