Default Did you teach Valentine's?

Just out of curiosity, did anyone teach a class on valentine's day? If so, what did you do?

I did. I teach in Indonesia, where Valentine's day isn't really celebrated. I used crossword puzzles for vocab, then did an activity where the students had to match famous couples, and finally did a trivia quiz on the history of Valentine's Day. There was competition with other classes at my school for the final activity. The students seemed to really enjoy it, and the winning group for the Valentine's history quiz got chocolates as a prize, since they're traditionally given at Valentine's Day.

Did you do anything related to Valentine's Day?

I only taught one group about Valentines. It was a high school group of 4. They had to put together a little oral presentation of what Valentine's Day is in Japan. Then we discussed as a group what they thought Valentine's Day was like in America. Finally, they got online and tried to find out about Valentine's Day in America and reported back their findings.

Actually, there was a Valentine's theme activity at Grammarman Comics that I wanted to try but didn't have the time. It's Romeo and Juliet for ESL, so it can be used any time of the year, I guess.
