Describe your favorite lesson Hey all, I was wondering what your favorite type of lesson is? For me, it's using online videos in the classroom. If you want to read about it, I wrote an article on it a couple of years ago, you can read it here: ESL and EFL Worksheets and more! click on publication originals and other stuff click on "Silence, Camera, English!" What do you like to use to teach and why? |
Re: Describe your favorite lesson Another great article! My favorite "class" would consist of advanced level adults from all different backgrounds who click VERY well. They love to talk and even more-so to learn. The kind of class I could bring a newspaper OR video news cast to and spend hours discussing it. Would LOVE to hear what others have to say about this! Best! Melissa |
Re: Describe your favorite lesson I agree with MelissaC: I like it when an advanced level class has students who don't all work together (colleagues often know so much about each other that the 'discovery' isn't really there) and just finding an activity where they sit and talk in English. Often, I'll make my students discuss a topic like "What do you think the three biggest challenges for humanity will be in the next hundred years?" If you have them write their answers down and then discuss them, you can fill a whole lesson with good, spontaneous conversation. . . and you'll get some surprising answers. (A student once told me he thought we'd have to consider imposing a maximum age. . . That got into a great discussion!) Still, I prefer lessons where students use English over lessons where students only learn it. -Toby |
