Class Ideas for Teaching Morpho-syntax? Hello all.
I've been assigned to teach a class on English Morphology and Syntax to EFL students. The task seems a bit daunting, but I found some great books that I can use. These cover me on the theory front, but I have no idea how to approach the class.
The main problem is that the class goes on for one hour and a half, twice a week. I already decided that I will use PowerPoint presentations to address all of the theory. This will make it easier on me and, hopefully, less dull for them.
The books come with some exercises that the students can work on and I'm sure there must be some others on the Internet, but what else can I do?
Last semester I was asked to teach a Phonetics and Phonology class and I was able to spin it as a "learn vocabulary as you learn about English sounds" class. I did lots of activities and games that revolved around vocabulary and sounding out words.
But with Morphology and Syntax I have no idea what to do in order to cover the allotted time. Whenever you have to teach a theory-heavy class, what do you do?
I hope that you can help me and any advice will be greatly appreciated.
