Any ideas for Halloween? I'm teaching in Italy where Halloween is a relatively new celebration. I'm a Londoner who never really got into it so I'm a bit stuck for ideas on some lessons I'd like to do with the kids (3-6 yeras old). What do you guys do? |

Re: Any ideas for Halloween? Here is a finger rhyme that my kids love to do every year Five little pumpkins sitting on the gate, (hold up five fingers) The first one said 'Oh my its getting late, The second one said lets have some fun The third one said, lets run and run and run The fourth one said, theres witches in the air The fifth one said , well I don't care Then, whooooo went the wind, And out went the lights (clap your hands as you say OUT) And five little pumpkins rolled off into the night. (roll your hands over and over each other) |
Re: Any ideas for Halloween? Here is a song you can sing to the melody of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Twinkle, twinkle, candlelight Make my jack o' lantern bright Make it shine, make it glow As from house to house we go Twinkle, twinkle, candlelight Make my jack o' lantern bright You can use this to explain how a pumpkin becomes a jack o' lantern when it is scooped and a face is cut out in it and a candle inserted to make the face glow in the dark. Simple little ghosts can be made using tissue paper, paper towel or even toilet paper, just crumple some into a small ball and wrap the bigger sheet around this head form and tie thread around the neck so you can hang them up. In Canada kids traditionally love to make bats, draw pumpkins with faces and black cats. |

I think the songs are a little too tough for them but I'll give them a try and let you know. Thanks again. |
Re: Any ideas for Halloween? Here is a writing idea What about creating a special witches brew recipe for halloween. Vocabulary such as toads, newts, bats wings etc could be explored. This could be lots of fun |
