adults basic level class hey you guys! I need you help.. i need to find some activities for adults that are coursing the first of seven levels of the English courses. The thing is that i'm a student of the b.a in ELT, and i need to teach "the neighborhood" to these students and i ran out of ideas:boom:. If you could help me i would be very grateful. Thank you.:clap2: |
Re: adults basic level class Do you just need to teach the vocabulary or is there some target language that surrounds the topic? Can you choose the laguage? Where is ...? Where can I ...? Is there a ... near here? Giving directions. |
Re: adults basic level class If you're teaching vocabulary (ATM, bank, convenience store, park, etc), then I would drill the vocabulary first. Then I would cover singular/plural, and again drill. Then I would plug the words into "There is/are..." Lastly, I would teach yes/no questions so students can then talk about their real neighborhoods. A: Is there a bank in your neighborhood? B: Yes, there is. There is a bank in my neighborhood. I've developed and taught a very similar lesson in the past, and it worked well. The lesson was 90 minutes with very basic students. Of course, if you're looking to teach directions... well, this wouldn't work so well! |
Re: adults basic level class 1 Attachment(s) I'm attaching a worksheet - I hope it can help you. It goes well with a map of the area where your school is, so that sts can mark places on it. Of course after the basic things you can go into adjectives describing places, asking how often they go there, why and so on. |
