Does anyone know what the cheapest bulk rates are for sending stuff to the US from Korea are?

How long does it usually take to get there?

If you get a copy of the Korea Herald. There are always companies that will ship your stuff home. One of them is Korea transport. Find out the details for the person on the other end. Its best to pay more money and get it shipped directly to your house.

A guy I knew shipped all of his stuff (he had a wife and baby so he had a lot!) by a shipping company but I can't remember the name. I think for around 1,000,000 Won he got it shipped to his doorstep. That's the way to go if you have lots of stuff. If you just have a few things, the post office might be your best bet. I mailed about 12 boxes home a few years ago. It was about 25-35,000 per box...:(

if you find a shipper let us know. i will need one in a few years.

Well I don't think I have 1,000,000won worth of stuff to send. Just a suitcase or so.

I actually can't remember if I've mailed a suitcase home or not... It was a while back. anyway, i think you should get as much stuff into your 2 checked pieces of luggage and take the rest to the post office. you can get boxes there and with some creative packing get most of your stuff home in a couple boxes. You pay by weight. i think the most i paid for a box was about 45,000 but this was a few years ago. the boxes were about 2 feet cubed.

Your right, it is just by the weight. I went to my local post office and was told this formula for calculating shipping cost from Daejeon to Houston, TX.

2 KG = 12,000 won
+2 KG = + 4,000

meaning that for every 2 Kgs after the first, the price increases by 4,000.


not so bad, actually much cheaper than I expected!!

Will those packages go directly to your home, or will they just send a notice that there are parcels waiting for you at the post office? I'm assuming the post office doesn't do door-to-door delivery for large packages....?
