Question France- Angers

Hi all,
I'm new on here and I need some advice, I hope someone can help. I am doing a project in Angers, France in a weeks time and it is a comparative study about the education system here in the UK and the system in France. I would like some answers on a few questions that I have, so here goes:
1) Is there a certain curriculum in France that teachers follow?
2) I have been asked to teach the children some basic English, does anybody have any ideas? I have been asked to focus on English heritage and teach them some simple songs. I have decided to keep the theme as Food, are there any songs that may relate to this theme?
3) For those of you have already taught/live in France what major differences would you say there are in the education system? (I'd like a heads up, I have already been told that the education is a lot more formal and traditional)
Sorry for so many questions and sorry if I have posted this in the wrong forum
