Race to the Board This is a simple game that can be modified to review almost any vocab or any structure.
Divide the class into 2-4 teams.
One student from each team stands at the board with chalk/marker in front of them.
You ask a question (or give an answer) and they write the answer (or ask the question for the given answer).
The first team to successfully write the correct response and place their chalk/marker back in front of them wins.
it's that easy and loads of fun!
You can choose to allow help from team members but it usually becomes a shouting match and less learning takes place.
If no one at the board can give the correct answer, let the next students in each team come up and give it a shot.
If you have some really difficult questions that everyone struggles with, i like to ask the question a few times. no one expects the questions to be repeated, especially not 3-6 times. so once they realize that the hard questions might be asked again and again, the students who don't know the answer will start to try to understand or learn the correct answer just in case that question appears when they come up. i have literally asked the same question 5 or 6 times until nearly every student was able to provide the correct answer. |
