Pronunciation games and activities I would be grateful if you could give me ideas about how to make my students improve their pronunciation through different kind of games or activites. Specially when they have to learn new vocabulary and most of the cases they don't pronounce them correctly. Thanks in advance Florelena:D |
Re: Pronunciation games and activities Hi Florelena, With my class, we play Around the World. I have flashcards with syllables on them (colour-coded so that I can use more difficult ones for the more advanced students). We go up and down the rows of the class, starting at one end of the room. The person who first pronounces the syllable correctly moves on to the next person, and so on. If they get an answer wrong, they sit in the spot of the person who won that round, and the new person continues until they get a wrong answer (or win!). I make sure to show the card to the entire class, and repeat how to pronounce the syllable before I move on to the next set. I hope I explained that well. Tasha |
Re: Pronunciation games and activities Try also games based on tongue twisters and minimal pair work. See these two ICALwiki articles to learn how you can use them in your lessons and help your students improve their pronunciation. Tongue Twisters Minimal Pairs |
Re: Pronunciation games and activities To practise minimal pairs, I've had quite a lot of success with this word match activity. It really helps students to notice where they have difficulties and consciously try to overcome them with noticeable results. |
