Default looking for games on asking someone out.

Hello. I'm going to teach how to ask people out in my next lesson with bunch of adult students. I've been trying to come up with some fun games for it but so far no luck. In the book they learn "would you like to ~?" "Why don't we~?" - and also the replies.

Could anyone recommend any games or activities for it? Thank you.

why not have a mock 'speed dating' activity using the targeted structures? i tried it with a very quiet class of adults during a social situations course...did wonders!

Thanks a lot liebkostdrache,

That sounds like a good idea. I'll give it a try.

Good luck I tried it again on a 'new' class..a fairly low level class, and it worked really well! They worked really hard on getting the questions right, and I gave them a few minutes before the game to prepare their questions. It's great for getting a wide variety of topics out there, and for question/answer work.

Asking people out?

Sounds like a lesson a lot more than just ESL students would like to learn.....

Anyways, what about this:

Write out a bunch of activities (go to the movies, get a coffee, etc.)

Make two copies (A and B)and randomly hand them out to the students.

Have the A group go around and ask the B group to do the activities. Each time an A person asks about an activity that the B student does not have, B student must give a polite denial (Sorry, I have to work tonight, etc.)

If the A person asks the matching activity, the B person accepts.

Both students keep their cards and get more from the teacher. The student who collects the most cards wins.

Thought of that one of the top of the head, but something like that would work.

Good luck!
