illustrating the difference between since and for (present perfect) through games Hi folks. I have yet another dilemma to solve concerning the present perfect continuous for duration. I didn't use the tic-tac toe revision game, because it turn out most of my SS haven't grasped the uses of since (a precise moment in time when the action began) and for (how long a period is) Any tips and pointers on simple engaging games that get the point across? Thanks a million. Emily. |
Re: illustrating the difference between since and for (present perfect) through games Hi, Emily You can draw an arrow showing students the duration of the present perfect tense and form 2 sample sentences using for and since e.g. I have taught English since 2000 . ( Starting point of the action ) I have taught English for eleven years . ( Show them the period covered on the time line ) .You can give them more examples and ask them to show you on the line of time drawn on the board if it refers to a precise point of time or a period of time . you can do many activities until they grasp the difference between since & for correctly . I wish this could help. Samar |
