| | Games to teach the dates and ordinal numbers Hi everyone,
I am an Indonesian and currently taking a teacher training. Next week, I am doing my first teaching practise.
What games are good to play when learning the dates and ordinal numbers.
Thank you,

Bring in a stop watch, and tell them when you say go they have to get into a line from 1st to the highest number and then call them out correctly. Time it and then play again, telling them they have a chance to beat their previous time, though mix up the cards again.
Another way is to have a mini olympics in teams and award first, second, third etc. |

The SS have a list of the events (in random order), and the teacher reads out the dates (again in random order). SS write the date against the event they think it corresponds to. Check by eliciting their ideas (S : I think Lennon was assassinated on .... ). Note that this activity presumes a knowledge of the past simple active and passive, so it's not usually suitable for an initial introduction. |

this idea is good I think it is easy to apply for a warm up.
Now to reinforce the dates you can practice using a big calendar and point out some dates and ask students, eg: what date is today? It is..... |

One good game to play is to get a deck of cards and just have the students shout out the ordinal numbers. Also, playing musical chairs while the students shout out the first irregular numbers 1st, 2nd, 3rd, helps solidify these. SELF ADVERTISING REMOVED BY ADMIN.
