Re: english with gross motor skills Hi Kelly I teach 5-11yr olds.On Reunion Island. With very young kids I use a lot of mime in class and a favourite routine at the start of class is a pretend trip to the UK. At first I tell the story and the kids copy the mimes then They listen and provide the appropriate mime .Finally they are able to tell the story while miming it. We take a bus to the airport(mime driving) get in the plan, fasten seatbelts, listen to music(hands over ears+head bobbing) eat and drink, yawn ,fall asleep, wake up stretch arrive in france then choose how to travel to Britain.Train/tunnel ,boat or another plan.Sometimes if I'm stuck for time we return by space rocket doing a 3,2,1 blast off! This ritual has worked really well and can be exploited further to teach the weather in the Uk introduce cultural themeswhat's happening today in England? hope this helps. eetymaggie |
Re: english with gross motor skills really a nice game. congratulations... |
Re: english with gross motor skills hi, acting out verbs with or without the help of a set of flashcards and include a timeframe by counting to 5 or ten (depending how long you want the action to take place). Counting up and down is a good strategy to teach number sequence passively. A song:I got two.... (hands) how about you? (sing two times) Wave your hands like I do (sing two times) (include body language for I (point to yourself) two (stick up two fingers) finger/hands etc (point to the mentioned bodyparts) you (point to the students) I got two/1 hand(s)/feet, back, arms, knees, elbow, shoes, shirt. variations are: clap your hands, stretch your arms, walk on your hands (oops!) run on your feet, tiptoe, crawl on you knees, swim on your chest, swim on your back, roll on your butt. |
