You CAN download from Youtube.... it can just be a pain. Using Firefox, get the add-on "DownloadHelper 4.9.8" and set its preferences to download all files as mp4 automatically. Then, go to ANY website that has flash, or video streaming. Once the page is loaded, you will see a little venn diagram button (red, blue and green). Click it, and presto, you've got the video you want downloaded! (just make sure you download the highest quality!)

Then, you can play via your PC, or a USB terminal that connects to a TV (I can't remember the brand I use right now, forgive me, I'm at home and can't check...) but they're quite cheap (~$70US) and a huge help in the classroom, especially since DVD players are often region coded!

There is a much easier way to download from youtube. Go to the website KeepVid: Download and save any video from Youtube, Dailymotion, Metacafe, iFilm and more! and copy the URL of the video you want to download. Plug the video URL into the bar on the keepvid page and it will create different types of video files. If you don't want the video only the audio the website just added the ability to download as an mp3. Hope this helps and thanks for all the ideas.
