Do you have access to any beginner English books (Oxford New Headway Starter or Longman Pearson Total English Starter for example). If you look at how the books are set out it can give you an idea. For example, you can start with the present simple of "be" (I'm French, I'm 28 etc and work through "you, he, she" by making name tags and pretending to be different characters. If you add "I like" then you can include food, sport, reading and other freetime activities. This gives practise in introducing yourself and another person if you like. In my experience you should do as much repition as you can until you're sure your student has "got it". Obviously you have to change what you do and how you do it so it's not too boring.
